Graduated from Madurai Medical College (1994-2000). After working on leprosy for a brief period (2000-01), completed residency in internal medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (2001-07). Was a CSIR-sponsored Senior Research Associate (2007-09) before joining the faculty of JIPMER in February 2009. Areas of interest include infectious diseases and clinical epidemiology.
