I completed my MBBS from Government Medical College, Trichur, Kerala and joined JIPMER as a Junior Resident (post graduate) in 1994. After my Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery, I went on to complete my Senior Residency in JIPMER in 2000. I also acquired my DNB (Ortho) during my junior residency. After a short stint in Kerala where I worked as faculty in Government Medical College Calicut and Trichur, I rejoined JIPMER as Assistant Professor after selection by the UPSC in the year 2003.
I have been awarded membership to the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS) and the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS). I have also completed fellowships by the Indo-British Association (Arthroplasty) and the World Orthopaedic Concern (WOC).
I have been the head of department of Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from 2013-2016. I had been entrusted the responsibilities of the administration of the JIPMER Trauma Centre from 2010-2012. I have also been part of the leadership in JIPMER Scientific Society, JIPMER faculty association, various departmental and institutional committees, JIPMER Staff Co-operative Society, Pondicherry Orthopaedic Association. I also serve the Medical Council of India, National Board and Pondicherry University as Inspectors and curriculum advisor.
I am the course director for the Advanced Trauma life support (ATLS) course
My area of clinical expertise is Hip surgery, Paediatric Orthopaedics, Joint replacement, as well as difficult limb reconstructions. My basic research primarily focuses on musculoskeletal infection, avascular necrosis and bone substitutes.
