Occupational Therapy Section of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PMR) Dept, JIPMER observed World Occupational Therapy Day (27th Oct) by organising several programs
In commemoration of “WORLD OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DAY” (Oct 27 th 2024), the theme for this year “OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY FOR ALL” has been propagated as “ERGONOMICS FOR WORK RELATED MUSCULOSKELETAL PROBLEMS” by the Occupational therapy section of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) dept. Keeping in view the theme, a month long awareness programme is being organized at Occupational therapy OPD 91 from Oct 28 th to Nov 27 th 2024 for the benefit of JIPMER staff and students during regular OPD hours. In addition, awareness camps were also organized in collaboration with the PSM Dept at JIPMER Rural Health Centre Ramanthapuram on 6 th November 2024 in the presence of Dr.Navin Kumar Professor and Head of PMR, Dr.Pratima Agarwal, Chief Medical Officer RHC Ramanthapuram, Dr.Sathish Kumar.S, Senior Occupational therapist & In-charge of Occupational therapy section, around 40 staffs and 150 coolie workers were benefited and at Urban Health centre Kurusukuppam on 12 th November 2024 in the presence of Additional Prof PSM Dept Dr.Venkatachalam Dhanaselan, Asst Prof PMR Dr. Padmapriyadarsini V, Dr. Devan, Senior Medical Officer, Dr.Sathish Kumar.S Senior Occupational therapist & In-charge of Occupational therapy section for the benefit of house hold women and Geriatric persons. Around 50 persons were benefited. An awareness video, pictures highlighting ergonomics and corrective postures were displayed in our OPD for patients benefit. In both the camps corrective postures, fall prevention, modifications and adaptations at home were advised.
