The National Forensic Medicine Day 2024 was commemorated on May 13, 2024, at the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, JIPMER, with the theme "Exhume the truth." This event marks the establishment of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine on May 12, 1972, which is celebrated as National Day of Forensic Medicine across the country. However, due to a public holiday on May 12, 2024, the department postponed the celebration to May 13, 2024.
The program was organized by the faculty members and residents of the department. For the first time, autopsy Scrub suits were distributed among the faculty and residents as a token or first step to improve the morgue room safety.
