In- patient Services: Ward 22 (Intercom - 6722) or Ward 24(Intercom - 6724)

Patients requiring admission are admitted in Ward 22 if Male and Ward 24 if female. There are 15 beds allotted for Ophthalmology in both the wards.

Day care Ward: 25 Ward

In this ward patients undergoing cataract surgeries and refractive surgeries are observed for a few hours. There are 10 beds.

CATARACT SERVICES

Phacoemulsification with foldable intraocular lenses, Manual small incisional cataract surgeries, Phacotrabeculectomy, Premium IOLs

GLAUCOMA SERVICES

Nd YAG Laser iridotomy, Trabeculectomy, Augmented trabeculectomy with MMC, Drainage device and Laser cyclodestructive procedures

REFRACTIVE SERVICES

Standard LASIK, Epi LASIK, Contoura, Trans PRK (Streamlight), PRK, Collagen Cross Linking

CORNEA SERVICES

Penetrating/ lamellar keratoplasties and amniotic membrane transplantation

PAEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY AND SQUINT SERVICES

Cogenital cataract surgeries, Cranial nerve palsies, nystagmus, amblyopia, Botulinum toxin injection, Squint surgeries

All surgical procedures for eye lid and lacrimal drainage abnormality, Orbital implants & ocular prosthesis

RETINA SERVICES

Retinal lasers for Diabetic retinopathy, Retinopathy of Prematurity, Anti VEGF treatment, all Vitreo retinal surgeries

EYE BANK SERVICES

Eye retrieval, Eye bank specular microscopy, Corneal transplantation

OPTOMETRY SERVICES

Refractive error correction, Contact lens services, Low vision device trial, Orthoptics and computer vision therapy

COMMUNITY OPHTHALMOLOGY SERVICES

Teleophthalmology project was started at our department in the year 2009 for catering services to the needy population from remote rural and tribal population and providing screening services to the school children. State of art Mobile Vision Service which includes Vehicle, Non Mydriatic Digital Fundus Camera, Autorefractometer, Non-contact tonometer and Slitlamp. Screening camps are conducted to cater the population of Pondicherry and surrounding Tamil Nadu districts. Patients are screened for eye disorders which cause preventable and treatable blindness like diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma. Patients are referred to the base hospital for necessary laser procedures and appropriate surgeries.
