The central workshop of JIPMER has been performing the repair, maintenance, and fabrication of equipment/instruments used for patient care services, teaching, and research. Machinery and equipment required for routine work, including lathe machine, grinding machine, cutting machine, drilling machine, arc & gas welding machine, saw machine are available in the Central Workshop.

Sections & work done:

• General Section : IV stands, stools, chairs, trolleys, cupboards, S.S Bins, etc.
• Refrigeration Section : Refrigerator, water cooler, -20 & -40 deep freezer, cold room, ice machine,  cold storages, etc.
• Carpentry Section : Wood, plywood, mica works and Re-canning of chairs, etc.
• Electronic Section : Digital & Aneroid BP apparatus, Nebulizer, Weighing scale, Induction stoves etc.
• Electrical Section : Sterilizer, Geyser, Pedestal Fan, Switchboards, portable examination lights, X-ray viewers, needle destroyers, insect killers, analog clocks, etc.
• Painting Section : IV stands, stools, cots, chairs, trolleys, cupboards, etc.

Store

The consumable and non-consumable items for repairing and fabrications works are purchased through an annual open tender/Gem portal/Imprest account and maintained in the storeroom for the day-to-day issue. The items like geysers, water coolers, refrigerators, etc., are also procured and issued through Central Workshop, based on the requests from various departments/sections.
