Achievements of the department: 

The department prides itself in producing seven authors. The textbooks authored from the faculty of the department cater to wide range of courses such as MBBS, MD Anatomy, BMLS, B.Sc. AHS, B.Sc. Nursing, Medical Education courses and Veterinary Encyclopedia.

Services: The department is actively involved in patient care services in processing karyotyping for the past 22 years. The karyotyping unit is well equipped with automated workstation and facilitates its studies for work of FISH/interphase FISH. The department is well stabilized for studies of DNA damage using comet assay and micronucleus score. It has grown in infrastructure with the establishment of Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for studies in molecular genetics, gene studies and runs a full-time service and project work. The department is also equipped with Confocal microscopy, COMET assay, Histotechniques, anatomical and soft embalming techniques.

Activities:

The department collaborates with General surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Plastic surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, ENT clinical departments to conduct cadaveric surgical skill training workshops for inhouse faculty and residents as well as external participants, periodically. The department also conducts workshop on embalming, museum techniques, karyotyping, comet assay, ImageJ software and Adobe illustrator software.

Dr. Rajasekhar SSSN 1.      Principle investigator and lead author of best paper award and cash price winning article titled “Advanced training in laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgical procedures using Genelyn embalmed human cadavers-A novel model” published in Journal of Minimal Access Surgery under the aegis of Indian association of Gastrointestinal endo-Surgeons. (2021-22) 2.      Winner of 2nd prize for poster presentation titled “Body donation- consent from non-related persons: case series, review, and recommendations” in CME cum update on Perspective of contemporary Anatomy Acts held at GGS Medical college, Faridkot, Punjab on 30/03/2017
Dr. Dinesh Kumar. V 1.      Won the first prize for the poster entitled, “Infusing the axioms of clinical reasoning in designing clinico-anatomical case vignettes for first year medical students: a pilot feasibility study” on 13th-15th September 2019 2.      One of the authors who won the “Best JMAS Award Winners” for the paper entitled, “Advanced training in laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgical procedures using Genelyn®-embalmed human cadavers: a novel model” in the IAGES conference 2021-22. 3.      One of the authors who received the Jury Choice Award for the E-Paper titled “Analysing the effect of incorporating images while framing MCQs for online anatomy assessment among first-year medical students: A quasi-controlled observation study” at the virtual Medical Education Conference (MEDUCON-2021. One of the authors who won the best paper in medical education category for the paper entitled, “Infusing the axioms of clinical reasoning in designing clinico-anatomical case vignettes for first-year medical students: a pilot feasibility study” at KCACON on September 2019
