6th Annual Research Day

Vaccines are among the most effective public health interventions currently available, with their use having saved more lives than any other intervention. The recent Covid-19 pandemic and rapid development of several vaccines to control it has led to a heightened interest of the medical profession and the general public alike in the field of vaccinology. This field encompasses several diverse topics such as mechanisms underlying vaccine-induced immunity, various approaches for making vaccines, animal and human studies to assess the safety, efficacy and effectiveness of vaccines, mathematical modelling of the impact of vaccines on a population, cost-effectiveness of vaccine use, and issues related to roll-out of vaccines, including logistics, programmatic issues and public trust.

In view of the above, JIPMER Puducherry, is organizing a one-day online course on “Vaccinology and Covid-19 vaccine: an update” on 19 March 2021, as a part of its 6th Annual Research Day celebrations.

After attending the course, the participants (medical, public  health and other scientific professionals and students) will be able to:

a.Comprehend the basic concepts of vaccinology, including the development, assessment and public health use of vaccines.
